Jerry Troutman is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and currently resides in Sykesville, Maryland. As a budding artist at the age of 6, he captured perspective and depth of field in his rendition of the Apollo 11 splash down. His art endeavors continued to flourish through high school, but decided to push pause on his art studies and chose to work as a computer scientist for the Dept. of Defense. Although there was always an opportunity for an art class, a sketchbook illustration or even a painting, his art career waited. After completing a 42-year career supporting the intelligence community, it was time to rekindle his art career in 2022.
Meet Jerry Troutman Artist
Today we easily snap photographs with our phones. Occasionally they are our posted to social media and family and friends swipe to view. My paintings capture hyperrealistic details, forcing you to slow down to admire the beauty and complexity of our world. My favorite complement is when someone says, “I thought that was a photograph” as the viewer leans in to see the detailed brush work used to capture the beautiful and the mundane. It’s simple praise for a painting well done.
